useful websites

here are a few websites we found helpful

This is one of our classes favorite tools to use during the classroom. While working in the classroom students are rewarded for good behavior or helpful contributions to the discussion. Students also lose points during class if they are talking or distracted. This point system helps students stay engaged and active in our discussions. While working on sustainability, students competed to get the most points and meanwhile no one wanted to lose points so classdojo helped our classroom stay on task.

Google classroom is so helpful to me as a teacher to help manage my classroom. Specifically for this project it was great as I was able to post homework, discussions, surveys, and little quizzes. Google classroom is helpful for the students to keep up with things and know my expectations as they are all in one place and easy to access. You all as parents are also always welcome to look at our google classroom to help keep your student accountable.

This project was a big one for the whole class. This sustainability project took a lot out of us and required a lot of focus. Because students worked so hard we often needed regular brain breaks. We used gonoodle to take stretch breaks, get our wiggles out, and do some nice calming breathing exercises. While the students loved our project they all enjoyed a break break to kick back and relax with gonoodle

Scratch junior is the perfect storytelling app. Multiple times during our project this semester I asked your kids to create stories and this app was the perfect medium for their stories. They are able to bring their imagination to life with the animated characters of their choice. The app is very easy to use and I encourage you to ask your children to show you their stories.

This website is the perfect study break. This website is a great tool for reading because the children can search a book they are interested in reading and then have the book read out loud to them. The website is offered as an app as well which works great because the kids can take it all over the room.

While working on this project, students obviously needed to do research in order to learn and present more on their chosen topic. In order to make sure that students could do research in a safe environment we used kiddle. Kiddle is a search engine very similar to google but is a safe search engine where I could be sure that the images and search results were kid friendly.

Brainpop is so fun! Brainpop is a website for all subjects with games and videos and more. One of my favorite things about brainpop is that when a child scrolls over a word the website says the word out loud which helps the child navigate even better. Brainpop has great videos to help explain the topics we are talking about for every subject. Ask your kids about Moby tonight and they will have plenty of stories to tell, he is the main comic relief in the brainpop videos.
